// Meet
Patricia Comb

Born in Surrey, I moved to North Yorkshire as a child, where I faced a "harsh introduction" to northern life, including bitterly cold winters and the steep learning curve of the local Yorkshire dialect. I spent most of my life in the region, attending school and later studying English and Drama at university in Leeds.

Before turning to writing full-time, I had a varied career that included working as a P.A. to financial directors and training as a primary school teacher.

Eventually I found my true calling in comedy writing. After a period living in south-west Scotland near the national "Book Town" of Wigtown, I returned to my roots on the North Yorkshire coast. My work is defined by its sharp wit and humorous take on everyday life, spanning popular romantic comedies like the Café Paradise series and anecdotal collections like Tales from the Yorkshire Wolds.

Even today, I continue to write from my home in a small coastal village. While best known for my romcoms, I have recently expanded into children's literature with the Bertie and Friends series. Currently I am working on a crime novel called Retribution.

When I am not writing, I can often be found sharing my work at arts and crafts fairs across North Yorkshire.

"Turning everyday life
into extraordinary laughter."
